About Smiley Tales
Thank you for visiting Smiley Tales. We are a rescue in the City of Citrus Heights in Northern California. We have been rescuing animals for most of our lives and decided to finally make it official. We are hoping this rescue will allow us to help even more animals as well as provide communities with more resources and education so they can help in a cause we are so passionate about!
We are committed to the rescue, rehabilitate, spay/neuter, and rehoming of abandoned animals. We ensure they receive the love and second chances they deserve.
We are committed to controlling community populations through TNR programs and are committed to provide a safe, nurturing sanctuary where animals can heal, grow, and thrive while awaiting their forever homes.

From a young age, I’ve been captivated by animals, often spending my childhood watching wild mustangs roam. My passion for animal rescue ignited at just six years old when I began rescuing strays and orphaned wildlife. Throughout high school, I volunteered at various nonprofit rescues and interned at a local animal shelter, where I recognized the critical need for animal advocacy. After graduation, I took time to reflect on my future and realized that animal rescue, particularly TNR and caring for feral community cats, was my calling. It felt like fate to turn my lifelong passion into a full-time commitment, leading to the founding of Smiley Tales Animal Rescue and Sanctuary (S.T.A.R.S).
